Abstract
The PC-1410 software for the automation of the PW-1420 Philips(TM) X-r ay fluorescence spectrometer (XRFS) has been developed. The program, w ritten in BASIC to be executed in a PC compatible computer, replaced t he AS-1410 and AN-1410 programs that were originally provided by the i nstrument manufacturer to be run in an old HP-85B computer. In the PC- 1410 software, the user creates files (master procedures (MP)) where t he conditions to be applied for each type of material to be analyzed a re stored. The PC-1420 has been checked with a variety of certified re ference materials and applied to materials used in the ceramic industr y.
