Abstract
One neutron transfer cross sections in the systems S-32 + Sm-144 and S -32 + Er-166 have been measured at energies close to the Coulomb barri er. Mass and charge identification was achieved using characteristic x rays. Transfer probabilities were analyzed by considering barrier pen etration mechanisms. Possible enhancement effects due to permanent qua drupole deformations are investigated and compared with the experiment al results.
