F. Bordes et al., EVALUATION OF THE EFFICACY OF FLORFENICOL (NUFLOR(ND)) AND COMPARISONWITH AMOXICILLIN (CLAMOXYL LA(ND)) IN THE TREATMENT OF BOVINE RESPIRATORY-DISEASE, Revue de Medecine Veterinaire, 146(11), 1995, pp. 731-736
In this field trial, 87 young beef cattle suffering from mild to sever
e bovine respiratory disease were treated with either 15 mg.kg(-1) of
long acting amoxycilline or 20 mg.kg(-1) of florfenicol, both administ
ered intramuscularly twice 48 hours apart. The clinical parameters rec
orded over an observation period of 28 days, especially rectal tempera
ture, as well as success and failure rates and bacteriological results
, clearly demonstrate the therapeutic efficacy of florfenicol in the t
reatment of bovine respiratory disease as well as its superiority on a
moxycilline.
