Abstract
A daily ultrasonic examination of follicular growth during oestrus was performed in 15 Poitou's jennies. During spring, the study showed tha t 54,2% of females had an ovulation with a follicular size comprised b etween 30 and 33 mm. However, during summer 48% of females had an ovul ation with a follicular size greater than 36 mm. Consequently, artific ial insemination in Poitou's jennies must begin at an optimal follicul ar size of 30 mm in spring and 33 mm in summer.
