Abstract
A spin-resolved x-ray-photoelectron-spectroscopy study of the deep cor e levels of ferromagnetic Fe are reported. The 2P3/2, 2p1/2, and 2s co re levels, as well as the more shallow 3p level, all display interesti ng spin-dependent structures. These findings indicate the importance o f intra-atomic exchange in deep-core-level photoemission from Fe. The electronic response of the metal to core-hole creation is found to be dependent on the spin of the core hole.
