Abstract
Penfluron, a highly effective benzoyl phenyl urea compound which acts via inhibiting synthesis of chitin in insects. in the present work an attempt was made to understand its biochemical mode of action. The res ults reveal that the chain of chitin production is inhibited at two pl aces; initially it is blocked partially at the stage of conversion con version of Glucose to Frutose and secondly at the final polycondencing stage.
