Abstract
This article introduces an inductor enhancement active filter for a pu lse-width-modulated type sequential switching unit (SSU) for spacecraf t applications, The SSU draws a pulsating current from the solar array , which must be suppressed with a large inductor to keep it below the specified electromagnetic interference level, This inductor adds signi ficantly to the weight of the SSU, Instead, a much smaller inductor ca n be used and its effective inductance enhanced by employing the rippl e cancellation technique. The amount of inductance enhancement is limi ted by the stability of the active compensation loop.
