Abstract
Four women with severe and intractable lichen sclerosus who failed to respond to topical corticosteroids and topical testosterone were treat ed with serial subdermal injections of dexamethasone/bupivacaine. The treatment schedule began with biweekly injections, which were graduall y extended to monthly and finally every 2 months, The topical applicat ion of EMLA cream eliminated injection site discomfort, Every patient experienced termination of pruritis or pain or both, cessation of dise ase progression, and regression of scaring.
