Abstract
A functional Schrodinger picture formulation of BCS superconductivity is presented. Starting from the BCS Hamiltonian, the functional Schrod inger equation describing superconductivity is obtained. This equation is solved using a Gaussian functional yielding the correct ground sta te energy, the gap equation, and the condensation energy. Physical imp lications of the present result are discussed.
