Abstract
Ultrasound measurements of heel pad thickness in 21 patients who had s uffered unilateral fractures of the calcaneum were taken. Body weight was also recorded. Contrary to previous assertions in the literature, heel pad thinning was not found to occur and in fact a significant inc rease in heel pad thickness on the affected side was noted.
