Abstract
Shadowing is one of the most important factors to influence display qu ality in STN-LCD. Shadowing has been reduced by double driving method, driver ICs with lower ON resistance, lower resistance ITO electrodes on the panel and so on. For more large size and high-duty panels, howe ver, we have developed a new driving method to reduce shadowing effect ively. We have developed the new segment side driver ICs that have fun ction to apply compensation voltage for shadowing. The new driving met hod is practical technique for high display quality, because shadowing is reduced to less than 1% at the predetermined display pattern on co lor STN-LCD modules of 800 RGB x 600 pixels.
