F. Mahmood et R. Hussain, A COMPARISON OF THE STABILITIES OF SOME RARE-EARTH-METAL SOAP STABILIZERS, Journal of the Chemical Society of Pakistan, 17(3), 1995, pp. 147-149
Rare earth (Dy, Nd, Pr and Tb) metal soaps that can be used as stabili
zers for PVC, were synthesized from lauric acid. The thermal stability
studies of these samples were conducted by employing differential the
rmal analysis in dynamic nitrogen atmosphere. The results reveal that
these metal laurates start to degrade at temperatures higher than thos
e required for lauric acid. Dysprosium laurate is the most stable havi
ng a melting point of 145 degrees C.
