The preparation of metal complexes of the title ligands are described.
The ligands behave either as dibasic bidentate a tetradentate. Mono-,
di- and tetra-nuclear complexes were obtained. Different products wer
e obtained from similar reactions of either ligands due to their struc
tural differences. Also, different metals and their counter anions yie
lded a variety of produces, Complexes of Cu2+, Ni2+ and VO2+ have simi
lar structures for each of the ligands used. However, UO22+ and Fe3+ c
omplexes were different, also different from one ligand to the other.
The acetate and chloride ions were found to be coordinated to the cati
ons in addition to the ligands in some products. The products were cha
racterized by their visible and IR spectra and measurements of their m
agnetic moments.
