Abstract
An extension to 1D relativistic hydrodynamics of the piecewise parabol ic method (PPM) of Colella and Woodward using an exact relativistic Ri emann solver is presented. Results of several tests involving ultrarel ativistic flows, strong shocks and interacting discontinuities are sho wn. A comparison with Godunov's method demonstrates that the main feat ures of PPM are retained in our relativistic version. (C) 1996 Academi c Press, Inc.
