D. Vrana et J. Votruba, INFLUENCE OF SOLUBLE HUMIC SUBSTANCES ON THE GROWTH OF ALGAE AND BLUE-GREEN-ALGAE, Folia microbiologica, 40(2), 1995, pp. 207-208
A stimulatory effect of soluble humic acid and sodium humate of soft c
oal origin on the growth of green alga Chlorella and Scenedesmus was e
stablished. On the contrary, the growth of blue-green algae was not af
fected by humic substances. For green microorganisms soluble humic sub
stances act more as a fertilizer than a bacteriostatic substance. The
possibility of application of soluble humic substances as selective fe
rtilizer of algae at the expense of blue-green algae at concentrations
up to 300 mg/L is discussed.
