Ty. Malysheva et Oa. Dolitskaya, THE ROLE OF PRIMARY SLAG FORMATION ON HEAT-TREATMENT OF IRON-ORE PELLETS, Russian metallurgy. Metally, (3), 1995, pp. 1-6
When iron ore pellets are subjected to oxidizing roasting the temperat
ure at which a liquid phase appears and its physicochemical properties
determine the process variables of heat treatment. The results of stu
dies of model systems comprising pure oxides fail to reflect the featu
res of the mechanism of phase transformations occurring on hardening o
f pellets made of ores from different deposits. The direction of phase
formation reactions during the solid and liquid sintering stages, the
rate and extent of interaction of charge components determine the che
mical composition and thermal properties of silica-containing phases o
f ores when pellets with natural basicity are produced, of ore and flu
x if the pellets are fluxed.
