In this work are established the main kinetic characteristics (reactio
n order, rate constant, apparent activation energy, mass transfer coef
ficient, thickness of boundary diffusion layer) and rate-controlling s
teps of carbon oxidation process at different stages of blowing stainl
ess steel in an AOD vessel, carbon content varying over a wide range (
from 2.00 to 0.02%). Kinetic oxidation conditions were found with carb
on content in the ranges 2.00-0.17% and 0.14-0.02%. A change of carbon
oxidation conditions was observed at carbon content approximately O.l
%.
