Precision alloys with special physical properties such as low thermal
expansion coefficient (Invars), low temperature dependence of elastic
modulus (elinvars), etc. are widely applied in metrology, cryogenic fa
cilities, precise machine building, and instrument making. Some areas
of application call for not only certain levels of special properties
but also high mechanical properties of these alloys. This work is devo
ted to the development of high-strength Invars having minimal thermal
expansion coefficient. A method of gasothermochemical treatment was us
ed for this aim.
