Abstract
Fluid catalytic cracking (FCC) is the major catalytic refinery process and the chemistry of some of the complex reactions occurring during F CC processing is reviewed and discussed. Experimental results for cata lysts based on zeolite Y, and its modifications, and for comparison of zeolite Y and shape-selective catalysts are used to explain features of the underlying chemistry involved in the FCC process.
