Abstract
An experimental study on the directivity patterns of laser-generated l ongitudinal and shear ultrasound in semi-transparent neutral glasses i s presented. The measured directivity patterns in the thermoelastic re gime in the AB-series neutral glasses, which have various optical abso rption coefficients, are in good agreement with our theory, which is b riefly summarized in the Appendix.
