As. Thiara et E. Cundliffe, ANALYSIS OF 2 CAPREOMYCIN-RESISTANCE DETERMINANTS FROM STREPTOMYCES-CAPREOLUS AND CHARACTERIZATION OF THE ACTION OF THEIR PRODUCTS, Gene, 167(1-2), 1995, pp. 121-126
Two genes encoding capreomycin (Cp)-modifying enzymes have been isolat
ed from the producing organism Streptomyces capreolus. Cp acetyltransf
erase (CAC), encoded by cac, is active against all four components of
the Cp complex, whereas Cp phosphotransferase (CPH), the product of cp
h, is active against Cp components IA and IIA (and also the related an
tibiotic, Vm) but not against Cp IB or Cp IIB.
