Abstract
Twenty-seven taxa in section Phoma with conidia not exceeding 7 mu m i n length are keyed out and described on account of their characteristi cs in vitro. Pour new species are introduced: Phoma aurea de Gruyter, Noordel. and Boerema, Phoma crystallifer de Gruyter, Noordel. and Boer ema, phoma flavescens de Gruyter, Noordel and Boerema and Phoma subher barum de Gruyter, Noordel. and Boerema As new names are proposed Phoma chenopodiicola de Gruyter, Noordel. and Boerema, Phoma pereupyrena de Gruyter, Noordel. & Boerema and Phoma selaginellicola de Gruyter, Noo rdel. and Boerema. New combinations of species originally classified i n Phyllosticta Auct. include: Phoma ajacis (Thumen) v.d. Aa and Boerem a, Phoma arachidis-hypogaeae (Vasant Rao) v.d. Aa and Boerema, Phoma h aematocycla (Berk.) v.d. Aa and Boerema, Phoma piperis (Tassi) v.d. Aa and Boerema and Phoma poolensis var, verbascicola (Ell. and Kellerm.) v.d. Aa and Boerema. Host-fungus and fungus-host indices are provided , and short comments on the ecology and distribution of the taxa are g iven.
