Abstract
eta(5) eta(5)-Fulvalenedimanganesehexacarbonyl (dicymantrenyl) was ace tylated and benzoylated by RC(O)Cl+AlCl3 in CH2Cl2, under conditions o f the Friedel-Crafts reaction. The reaction involves both nonequivalen t positions of the cyclopentadienyl rings to give mixtures of two isom eric ketones. When using an excess of the acetylating mixture, diacety l derivatives of dicymantrenyl were obtained.
