Abstract
Nine Stone Age sites from the eastern Free State have been dated. Unli ke neighbouring Lesotho sites, many of these Free State sites contain dates between 1000 BP (before present) and 6000 BP. Only a single site , Rose Cottage Cave, has early Holocene and late Pleistocene dates.
