Abstract
A new Granulosis Virus was isolated from the maize stem barer Sesamia cretica Led, (Lepidoptera Nactuidae) in Egypt. The DNA of this Baculov irus; that we propose to name ScGV, was characterized. The size of the total genome was estimated to be 112 kilobases and restriction patter ns have been drawn zip for 17 endonucleases. Viral diagnosis methods, immunoenzymatic test ELISA and genomic probe, have been laid down and tried out for epidemiological studies of the disease.
