H. Uchida et al., EFFECTS OF OXIDATION AND HYDROXIDATION ON THE H-2 REACTIVITIES WITH NI, CO, NI-CO AND LANI2.5CO2.5, Journal of alloys and compounds, 231(1-2), 1995, pp. 684-688
The reaction probabilities of H-2, O-2 and H2O were measured volumetri
cally at 298 K on the Ni, Co, Ni-Co alloy and LaNi2.5Co2.5 surface. Th
e O-2 and H2O preadsorption effects on the H-2 reactivities on these m
etals were quantitatively measured. These results indicate that the Co
addition into Ni acts to stabilize the H adsorption state and enhance
s the H surface coverage. Even in an oxidized surface state, the activ
e features of Co for the H-2 and H2O dissociation could be measured. T
hese results seem to be connected with the improvement of the cyclic l
ifetime of the negative electrode with Co of the metal hydride battery
.
