Small angle scattering of neutrons (SANS) and X-rays (SAXS) is used to
get insight into the shape, the internal structure and the interactio
n of aqueous solutions of micelles. Alignment of anisometric micelles
via shear gradients, electric and magnetic fields facilitates the inte
rpretation df the scattering patterns and are therefore a powerful too
l for any kind of investigation. Transient alignment experiments give
a rich insight into the dynamic response of micellar solutions, like p
hase transitions, Brownian motion, growth or decay of micelles and mut
ual interaction.
