DETECTION OF THE MARITIME PINE BAST SCALE , MATSOCOCCUS-FEYTAUDI DUC (HOMOPTERA, MARGARODIDAE), IN CORSICA

In 1994, a survey of the maritime pine bast scale, Matsucoccus feytaud i Duc, in Corsica was carried out by pheromone trapping. Twenty-four s tands were investigated located in all the maritime pine forests of th e island. One population of maritime pine scale was discovered in the Foret de Pineto (Upper Corsica), although this pest was declared absen t from the island until then. The origin of the population, indigenous or recently introduced was discussed and the risks of outbreak estima ted.
