A special design of multilayer inductor is proposed for reducing the r
eactive power and active losses. The inductor consists of two metal ba
nds with a dielectric layer between them. Coil inductance is compensat
ed for by the capacity between the bands. A mathematical model of this
inductor is developed as a program package for calculating the distri
bution of currents and voltages along the inductor and also the energy
parameters, including electrical efficiency and the power factor. The
current density distribution in the inductor and the resonance-relate
d overvoltages are investigated. Possible application of such an induc
tor is shown.
