An unusual loculoascomycete with superficial, setose ascomata, two-spo
red, fissitunicate asci and large, dictyosporous ascospores surrounded
by a gelatinous sheath is described in the genus Boerlagiomyces (Tube
ufiaceae, Pleosporales). This species is known only from rivers in low
er latitudes in North America and may be a warm water species.
