Abstract
Polarization-division beamsplitters with KBr and KRS-5 substrates were constructed and evaluated for their performance in Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy. It is found that the beamsplitter with a KRS-5 substrate is not practically useful; the one with a KBr substrate has good potential, although its current performance is significantly poor er than the performance of a beamsplitter with a BaF2 substrate. Repre sentative spectra obtained with a KBr beamsplitter are presented.
