Abstract
We discuss the gamma-ray production by Compton backscattering of intra cavity storage ring free-electron laser radiation. We use a semi-analy tical model which provides the buildup of the signal combined with the storage ring damping mechanism and derive simple relations yielding t he connection between backscattered photons, brightness and the interc avity laser equilibrium intensity.
