B. Ndiaye et al., FREQUENCY OF TINEA-CAPITIS IN PATIENTS WI TH CONNECTIVE-TISSUE DISEASE IN DAKAR (SENEGAL), Journal de mycologie medicale, 5(4), 1995, pp. 239-243
Fifteen tinea capitis cases were observed among 38 patients with conne
ctive tissue disease hospitalised at the Dermatological Clinic of Daka
r during 2 years. Forteen were female adults. Clinical diagnosis of ti
nea capitis was sometimes difficult because of the association with sc
alp lesions due to the connectivite tissue disease. Trichophyton souda
nense, the most frequently isolated in tinea capitis in Senegal, was t
he major etiological agent. Tinea capitis in adults is not rare in Sen
egal, connective tissue disease are the most frequently observed conco
mitant disease found in patients of the dermatological clinic. Tinea c
apitis in adult in patients with connective tissue disease has been ra
rely reported.
