Abstract
Detailed Mossbauer effect studies on Fe3-xCrxSi alloys show a solubili ty of Cr up to a composition of x = 0.5 and a precipitation of Cr3Si p hase beyond this composition. The effect of Cr on the hyperfine fields at the inequivalent (AC) and (B) sites is understood in terms of a lo cal environment model with Cr substituting at the B site with a very s mall moment. Presence of B32 order besides the DO3 order is also indic ated.
