Abstract
Dehydrogenation of coal-tar pitch with sulphur influences the behaviou r of pitch in subsequent carbonization. The carbon yield gets up and c hemorheological property changes. Conditions for mesophase formulation are worse because of an increasing viscosity. In extreme case the sol idification is done during the dehydrogenation by sulphur. We can cont rol anisotropy and mechanical properties of carbonizates whereby sulph ur modification of pitch.
