Abstract
Langdon's model has been used in the calculation of net primary produc tion of phytoplankton in the (turbid eutrophic) Westerschelde and (rel atively transparent) Oosterschelde estuaries. The results for the West erschelde are shown to be much closer to the observed values than is a chieved using other methods (fixed respiration rate) of calculation.
