The anisotropic XY model has a basic difference from the isotropic XY
model but it behaves very similarly to the Ising model. The scaling fi
eld also changes when anisotropy is introduced. If the scaling field o
f an Ising model is used for the anisotropic XY model, the critical ex
ponents are found to vary with anisotropy. Here we have shown that a p
roper choice of the scaling field leads to the universality and the cr
itical exponents have the same values as in the Ising model. The scali
ng field is further modified to include the isotropic limit.
