Dy. Hollinger et al., INITIAL ASSESSMENT OF MULTISCALE MEASURES OF CO2 AND H2O FLUX IN THE SIBERIAN TAIGA, Journal of biogeography, 22(2-3), 1995, pp. 425-431
We measured CO2 and H2O fluxes between undisturbed Larix gmelinii fore
st and the atmosphere at a remote Eastern Siberian site in July 1993.
Scaled-up leaf-level porometer measurements agreed with those derived
from the eddy correlation technique for the canopy fluxes of CO2 and H
2O. Patch-scale measurements of ecosystem CO2 exchange agreed in turn
with regional CO2 exchange rates derived from aircraft measurements ma
de throughout the convective boundary layer. At all scales, midsummer
CO2 fluxes for this vast, dry boreal forest were low, with maximum C u
ptake rates of only about 5 mu mol m(-2) s(-1).
