COST MODELING OF WASTE IN INCINERATION PLANTS - AN APPLICATION OF FUZZY-SETS TOWARD DECISION-MAKING UNDER UNCERTAINTY

The estimation of total costs of incineration depends on a large numbe r of different factors which influence the decision maker in bidding t he final plant costs. Traditional sensitivity analysis of the costs on the model parameters is often not possible because of computational e ffort and subjective criteria for the choice of model parameters. The use of fuzzy numbers, as presented in this paper, allows for the estim ation of uncertainty in the calculation of incineration plant and for quantification of some variables, which can be expressed in linguistic way.
