Abstract
We carried out a preliminary survey to examine what popular beliefs an d claims are most readily accepted among our college students and to c ompare these responses with the results of similar questionnaires take n in other parts of the country. Ratings for 70 statements dealing wit h topics in science and pseudoscience were obtained from 330 UH-Hilo c ollege students and 40 UK-Hilo college faculty over a 5-year period. T he results are compared to similar statements from four other surveys.
