(+)-Grandisol, (+)-1, was isolated for the first time in 1969 by Gueld
ner et al.(1) it is the most important constituent of the aggregation
male-produced pheromone of the cotton boil weevil, Anthonomous grandis
Boheman, a Curculionidae being an important pest of the cotton boll.(
2) Morever, (+)-grandisol is also released by females of the ambrosia
beetle Trypodendron signatum L.,(3) by males of bark beetles Pityophth
orus pityographus,(4) and other insects like Pityogenes quadridens,(5)
Pityogenes calcaratus(5) and also by the genus Pissodes.(6)
