Abstract
Alumina pillared montmorillonite with basal spacing 19A has been prepa red and characterised by XRD, TGA, DTA and titrimetric methods. The d- spacing and thermal stability of the clay increase by pillaring and ba sic sites appear on the clay sample. The catalytic activity of the pil lared clay is compared to acid treated clay in the isomerization of ()-limonene oxide.
