Ff. Gorbatsevich et Vl. Ilchenko, THE EFFECT OF THE SATURATION OF THE MICROPORES OF SPECIMENS OF ANISOTROPIC ROCKS WITH LIQUID ON THEIR ACOUSTIC PROPERTIES, Russian journal of nondestructive testing, 31(4), 1995, pp. 242-250
It is shown that saturation of the open micropores of two groups of sp
ecimens of rock from a core sample of the Kol'skii very deep borehole
with liquid changes their elastic anisotropy characteristics. For exam
ple, the degree of acoustic dichroism and the anisotropy index may cha
nge by +/-25% on saturation. The spatial directivity of the symmetry e
lements may change in the range 0-24 degrees (on average by 4-8 degree
s). The velocity of propagation of waves varies appreciably (up to 30%
) only in a group of high porosity specimens. A proposed boring method
enables up to 70% moisture to be maintained inside the specimen durin
g tests.
