Abstract
Shell models with conservation properties corresponding to two- and th ree-dimensional turbulence are presented together with other test mode ls. Symmetry breaking in the information transfer between large and sm all scales is shown to be responsible for the convexity or the concavi ty of the scaling exponents of the structure function associated with intermittency corrections. The same effect is discussed in other model s of intermittency.
