Energy storage and disposal by electron transfer in molecular and supe
rmolecular systems may provide a conceptual and technical basis for th
e construction of molecular electronic devices, e.g., molecular wires
and switches. We consider structural, intramolecular, medium energetic
and medium dynamic control of electron transfer in synthetic and neut
ral supermolecules. Optimization principles are formulated for ultrafa
st, highly efficient and stable charge separation.
