The natural vibrations of clamped rectangular orthotropic plates are a
nalyzed using the extended Kantorovich method. The developed iterative
scheme converges very rapidly to the final result. The obtained natur
al frequencies are evaluated for a square plate made of Kevlar 49 Epox
y and the obtained results are compared with those published by Kanaza
wa and Kawai, and by Leissa. The agreement was found to be very close.
As there are no exact analytical solutions for clamped rectangular pl
ates, the generated closed form expression for the natural modes, and
the corresponding natural frequencies, are very suitable for use in en
