Abstract
To facilitate formation of homogeneous stable monomolecular films of p rotoporphyrin (PPIX), phospholipid PE has been attached to propionic a cid side chains. The modified compound has been characterized using op tical and NMR spectroscopy. Fluorescence decay measurements indicate t hat LB films of these molecules exhibit stable and homogeneous structu res. Moreover, transfer of energy from a molecule belonging to one lay er to another in the neighboring layer readily takes place.
