During granule and tablet formulation some ingredients can affect the
physical properties of the drug. In order to study the effects of gran
ulating agents on certain drugs, two different methods of manufacture
were used. Lorazepam was chosen as the drug. We studied the dissolutio
n kinetics of the formulas obtained by dry and wet granulation, in ord
er to investigate possible modifications in drug release. Infrared spe
ctroscopy showed a pseudopolymorphic form of lorazepam.
