Abstract
The rate of mass transfer in the liquid-liquid extraction of alpha-amy lase from an aqueous phase to a reversed micellar phase has been studi ed. A simple model for the mathematical representation of this system is discussed. Batch separation experiments at different total concentr ations have been carried out. These show the effect of the nonlinear e quilibrium on the mass transfer rate. The experimental results are use d to obtain the time constant of the process.
