Pl. Ramazza et al., TRANSITION TO SPACE-TIME CHAOS IN A NONLINEAR-OPTICAL SYSTEM WITH 2-DIMENSIONAL FEEDBACK, Physical review. A, 53(1), 1996, pp. 400-407
By varying an intensive parameter in a nonlinear optical system with t
wo-dimensional feedback the wave front displays a transition from a un
iform to a patterned state, and eventually to space-time chaos. A nonl
ocal interaction, introduced by means of a feedback rotation, is the s
ource of the observed phenomena. The observed space-time chaotic behav
ior is characterized by a rapid decay of correlation. We study the pos
sibility that the system eventually evolves from space-time chaos to a
turbulent regime.
